Abstract

In Mexico, the HIV/AIDS epidemic is transmitted mainly via unprotected sexual relations between men, especially among those assuming a gay identity -the population that concentrates the greatest number of documented cases. The infection, however, should not become an impediment for the practice of active sexuality among those who already live with HIV/AIDS, discriminated against and stigmatized by a lack of information that would allow the public to distinguish between the dimensions of sexuality and eroticism and the modes of transmission of the acquired immunological deficiency virus. Given the distinction that the public has established between "healthy" and "iIV' a considerable, growing number of gays who live with HIV/AIDS Ceither asymptomatic due to antiretroviral treatment or with "undetectable" levels of viral activity) have formed virtual communities via the Internet that allow them to interact with other gays also affected by HIV/AIDS. However; there is a need to intervene 'in order to provide information and secondary prevention to this population of emerging identity, given that the majority of virtual communities lack sensitivity and have no access to information that would guarantee integral sexual health.
