Abstract
In Mexico, conservative groups are opposed to formal sexeducation in schools. Their position is that it should be provided only within the family by parents, asserting that this is a notion shared by most parents and guardians. This study implemented a questionnaire featuring both discrete and openquestions, applied to 15,000 parents in different states of the Mexican Republic.Theresults of the questionnaire were analyzed from a quantitative perspective using the SPSS program, and from a qualitative perspective using the Atlas-ti programo The sex of the people who responded was 61.8% women and 25.4% rnen,with 12.2 % failing to respondoThe average age of those providing information was31, with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 71. Family income was distributed according to the minimum wage, with 30.7% earning 1; 46.1 %, from 2 to 5; 13.4%, from 5 to 10; and 4.8% earning over 10 minimum wages, with 4.9% failing to respondoThe maximum level of education of those polled was 5.8% preschool; 14.9% elementary school; 26.7% junior high school; 13.6% high school; 21.3% vocational studies; 15.7% university studies with 2% failing to respondo Regarding question one, 94.86% answered that they accept this education in schools, and when it was proposed that sexeducation be provided by professionals, 98% were in agreement. This article abounds in the causes behind both acceptance and rejection.
