Seeve / cool: sexuality, gender and ethnicity in the meanings of sex between men in communities yoeme (Yaqui) from Sonora, Mexico

Abstract

The results of anthropological research on the meanings of sexual relations between men in the Yoeme indigenous population (Yaqui) of Sonora are presented. The methodology consisted of in-depth interviews and participant observation with individuals from various Yoeme communities of Sonora. It provides a characterization of the cultural dynamics with particular emphasis in ideologies, gender relations, identities, and ethnicity that construct themeanings of sexual relations between men in this society.
