Abstract

The sexual disability and impact on health presented among persons with acquired paraplegia is an issue relatively ignored by the social sclences, especially anthropology. Therefore, there is a need for reflection and analysis from the perspective of the individual s themselves, social imagery, ideology, politics, economics, and daily interaction with other fields in which sexual discourse is being redefined. This, in addition to the relation between the modificatión of body schema and the sexual practices and representations generated by groups of persons with acquired paraplegia from the state of Colima. To this end, a semi-structured interview was carried out regarding sexual approach and attraction, sexual stimulation and arousal, as well as strategies for the development of sexual practices. Modifications are observed in the perception regarding sexuality as adapted to a handicapped condition that, in most cases, does not center on the physiological function of sexual response or the nullification of sex lives.
