Abstract

Sexuality reaches even the most traditional communities, it is not more exclusive nor hidden. In a consumer society, being swinger means status, it is a lifestyle as a couple or as an individual. It is offered as freedom for sexual exchange, for transposing limits to an infinity of roles and interactions, as well as for having a new field for anonymous sexual and affective practice. Our goal is to approach swinger relationships, from the affective and sexual areas, that take place at swainger clubs in Toluca, México. Ethnography and participant observation were the methodologies selected. The study is transdisciplinary: anthropology, sociology and social psychology. I analyzed the swinger clubs advertising and atmosphere. My findings reveal an ambiguous sexuality with contradictions in the colonization of and ideology.
