Condición de VIH/sida como situación adicional para ejercer violencia obstétrica en mujeres que llevan a término el embarazo en América Latina, una revisión documental
Keywords:
obstetrical violence, gender, HIV, pregnancyAbstract
Since 2007 attention has been drawn to obstetrical violence in many countries such as Venezuela, Argentina, and Mexico primarily in order to criminalize aggression framing the process of pregnancy, birth, and puerperium in places offering biomedical attention and, in this way, to offer alternatives to eradicate it. According to documentary research and testimonies of pregnant women who live with HIV/AIDS in Latin America, situations of obstetrical violence suffered by these women have been demonstrated, but not fully conceptualized from this perspective. The objective of this text is to describe the details that had not been taken into consideration in discussing the subject and its relationship with different health conditions such as HIV/AIDS on the continent from a gender perspective, sexual rights, and reproductive rights with a psycho-social focus.
