Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) continue  to be one of the main health problems faced by modern society. This study analyzes the sexual orientations that a group of seropositive men developed after they were diagnosed. For that, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine people aimed at recovering their experiences with HIV, taking when the HIV diagnosis burst in their daily lives as the core of the problem. Results show that stigma associated with sexual orientation is a field that entails important contradictions in the seropositive condition incorporation and that this framework marks the ways this illness is dealt with.
