Abstract

This article examines the experiences of adolescents and young people living with hiv/aids in Mexico, focusing on the biographical construction of their identity and how they relate to the disease and the associated social burden. Qualitative research was conducted, and interviews were conducted with young individuals diagnosed early in childhood, during adolescence, and in young adulthood. The results show that those diagnosed in childhood had a perception of their health influenced by adult intervention, while those diagnosed in adolescence faced stigmatization and the need for self-determination. The study highlights the importance of addressing the social and psychological dimensions of hiv in the treatment and care of these young individuals. These findings have significant implications for improving treatment adherence and quality of life for hiv patients in this population.Principio del formulario
