Abstract

The spatial distribution of sites and the presence of isolated lithic artifacts allow us to offer hypotheses related to how these elements are linked with the geographic area, as well as the way they connect with resource diversity and topographical features. The information in this article is part of the results of the Proyecto Corindón. After studying isolated lithic artifacts usually found in surface surveys it can be said their spatial distribution is closely related to places where campsites and rock painting are scarce. Surface survey zones tend to be open fields and low ridges lacking nearby water resources. Significantly, projectile points together with bifacial tools, knives, and other artifacts suggest these landscapes were important areas for hunting and gathering.
