Abstract

This paper presents a set of recent data on ceramics from the site of Cerro Zapotecas, 3 km (1¾ mi.) away from Cholula, Puebla. The main goal of the study is to integrate this information in discussions of the transition to the Postclassic in the Puebla-Tlaxcala Valley. Simultaneously the paper offers a reinterpretation of this site’s occupation. The chronological re-evaluation makes it possible to propose a new transitional phase in Cerro Zapotecas between AD 600/ 650 and 750.
