The architecture Chacas residential settlement in the southern Huasteca
Abstract
In this paper we present the results of part of salvage archaeological work conducted at the site of Las Chacas, located in the mountainous zone of the southern Huasteca in the state of San Luis Potosi. Based on the exploration of all of the structures, the general analysis of materials and various features of its architecture dated it to the Early Postclassic. This work focuses on the architecture in terms of its meaning, while it also outlines the physical environment surrounding it and presents the work conducted in this group. It describes the structures, their spatial location and construction systems, while it also identifies a number of elements distinctive of regional architecture and others that seem to come from more remote areas with which it displays some kind of relationship. Moreover, the excavations showed the site was planned with specific symmetry and order given to its conception; some aspects of what it might mean are explored.
