Abstract

The Commission of Monuments was created by law on January 31, 1930, over 40 years was an organization composed of members who represented various institutions that helped the Ministry of Public Education in the study and protection of property furniture and buildings considered cultural heritage of the country. This text makes a brief tour of its history, functions and activities that were shaping the policies followed in the matter.
