Abstract
Around fifty sacred images were venerated in the capital of New Spain in buildings such as the cathedral, parish churches, and the churches of friars and nuns. One of those images was the Ecce Homo in the church of Regina Coeli, a sculpture that was in the center of the main altarpiece, which was dedicated on September 8, 1755. This article focuses on three different works in which that effigy is “portrayed”: a summary of indulgences of 1704, a print from 1755, and an anonymous painting currently in the collection of the Basilica of Guadalupe Museum.
