La noria de San Roque en Tepeyahualco, Puebla: un ejemplo singular de la arquitectura hidráulica
Keywords:
noria, hydraulic architectureAbstract
The way that man adapts to nature produces unique works now recognized not only for their functionality, or their history, but for the spatial, material and constructive response used in them. The noria or hydraulic wheel included in haciendas are part of those examples from the daily operations in agricultural or livestock activity that speak of the territory and its natural resources. Water extraction on the hacienda of San Roque was carried out by animal traction through a wheel with ninety-nine useful cubes according to historical data. Its architecture bursts onto the impressive landscape of the former district of San Juan de Los Llanos. Its mechanism and construction expresses specialized and ingeniously used knowledge of the extraction, elevation and distribution of water.
