Abstract

The article explores several topics on the social history of builders in a region influenced by agricultural activity through time. It also reviews the implications of diverse changes associated with a modernization impulse in the early twentieth century. In this context, it is interesting to explore the practical and professional profile of diverse technicians active in the city, to discuss their involvement in the building industry and public works, but especially, to reflect on the decisions undertaken in a public market building and its roof reconstruction. The emphasis is on documental evidence that makes it possible to study technological change based on the criteria that arose from practice.
