The former sixteenth-century Augustinian convent complex dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene in Cuitzeo preserves a number of architectural elements that permit a reading of a discourse in graphic elements carved in stone and wood, painted on walls (dating to the sixteenth to twentieth century), and recognition of symbols of the rule of the Order of St. Augustine and his pantheon of saints. Key features are the Sacrament of Penitence with its invocation, which represents biblical passages of the Passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and four remarkable examples that have been preserved: the Plateresque facade, and the murals The Last Judgment, Type of Religion, and Calvary.
