Abstract

In this article the author exposes the work of the medical community in nineteenth-century México, in a context of paradigm shift; social, ideological, political, economic and scientific; it is from the trajectory of one of them: Hilarión Frías, who shows us the role of doctors in the nascent Republic. As part of the liberal intelligentsia of the time, doctors were not only architects of scientific medicine, but actors who ventured into political, military life and public opinion through the print media.
