La noche de la vida: la vida en el metlán. (A través del acervo mitológico de los lacandones)

Abstract

The lacandones, indigenous Maya people, conceive death as a second stage ofthe Ufe cycle, a passing ofthe soul through the infraworld. The soul, liberated froni the flesh, runs in the infraworld, enduring ordeals similar to those ofthefirst stage. Following this Lacandón myth of the life in the afterlife, the author tries to reconstruct the peculiar idea that the Maya have about their history, which they associate to the stars' movement and the arder ofthe universo.
