The author tries to show how the problem of the nation's mythical origins is still in France a fundamental place for a collective identity, and that each attempt of manipulation of these mytical ancestors can be suffered as an insult to personal identity and political and social consensus. The author bases his analysis on King Clovis l,000th baptism anniversary.
