Abstract

By means of exploiting the explanation given by Lacan to the process ofidenty, the author explores the posibilities this view has to explain the characteristics ofa kinship system based on alliance. Psychoanalytical discourse is presented as a tool whose models cannot be used directly within non western societies, butuseful to build questions and hypothesis on the ways the individual processes link with social phenomena.
