The Huichol modeling: the rhetorical function of the prefix ka-ni Assertion

The modal prefix ka-ni is analyzed to account for its functions beyond the sentence level and in text types (personal accounts, descriptions, and others) than traditional stories or myths. The pragmatic context is considered in the analysis, which allows as adding new functions besides the narrative function proposed by Grimes [1966]. Some of these new functions can be considered rethoric functions.
