Postmodern exoticism: the anthropology of tourism intercultural encounters.

This article presents a critical revision of the studies which were made during the last twenty years, about the asymmetric international tourist meetings between visitors and receptors, mediated by operators. From an anthrapologíc al point of view, those are understood as intercultural and transcultural meetings which take place under the reorganization of the communities identities facing the pressures of the tourísm industry for selling images of "the exotic" and tourists' insist on living "the authentic".
