Abstract

As part of a wider investigation on creating a safe city for women, this paper describes a cultural event performed by a group of activists promoting sexual diversity. In a geopolitical context, set on Mexico’s southern border, this ‘happening’ can be seen as an ‘innovative culture’ as it deconstructs homophobia and misogyny, thus contributing to the creation of a culture of peace, of respect for human rights and for the empowerment of citizens in general, as well as the creation of inclusive spaces within the urban environment.
