Abstract

Over 50 years ago, Gonzalo Aguirre Beltrán published his pioneering book on African and Afro Blacks in Mexico (1946). Since then many researches and studies have been conducted, which revealed, among other things, the importance of this group in the formation of our country, their current situation and their contributions to the cultural heritage of Mexico.

He also talks about the difficulties that have to disseminate the history and culture within the country and as a particular example, we mention the Museum of Cultures Afromestizo and neglect in which was submerged.
