This article analyzes the images taken by Jimmy Hare and Eduardo Melhado, English and Mexican photojournalists, respectively, who covered the United States occupation of the port of Veracruz in 1914, one of the most photographed events in the Mexican Revolution. The assessment of these images sheds light on the cultural contrasts between the visions of these two men. Photos of the U.S. occupation not only contributed to publicizing what happened in Veracruz, but also to shaping varied perceptions of this event.
