Abstract

During the period from the end of 1970 to early 1973 an ideological debate arose in Mexico between radicalized student sectors, about the character of the revolution and the exercise of political violence as a necessary factor for the transition to socialism. The outcome of this discussion was the formation of one of the foremost guerrilla organizations in contemporary Mexico, the Liga Comunista 23 de Septiembre, in existence between 1973 and 1981.
