Abstract

This paper displays significant anthropological interpretations of psicoanalysis. It begins with Kroeber, pioneer of anthropological critique of psychoanalysis. Then it reviews the work of anthropologists who explored the consequences of psychoanalysis in the conceptions of kinship, symbolism and culture. It stresses the conflictive points, the tensions and the critical confrontation between both disciplines as well as the transformations in anthropological theory motivated by psychoanalytical proposals.
