The purpose of this paper is lo describe and analyze the representations of pain in a group of patients and physicians, related to the suffering of chronic pain due to sequéis of the viral infection caused by herpes zoster, in the Pain Clinic of the General Hospital in México City. This study is developed under the framework of medical anthropology, this is, its theory and methodology.
