Abstract
This paper presents an ethnographic study developed in the physical therapy department of the Centre for Mental Health and Neurological Care in Mexico City. It considers the pre-existing frames of reference and those that transcend the institution. It particularly looks into how the various interaction plots are constructed during the provision of clinical care. It considers a revision and problematization of concepts such as plots, frames of reference, strips of activity, performativity, and globalization, proposed by Mattingly, Goffman, Butler y Trouillot. This research study uses ethnography as defined in the clinical context, the extended case method and narrative as pertinent methodologies for the description and analysis of clinical interaction.
