Abstract
This review, in addition to analyzing the book titled The Witness as Object. Video Testimony in Memorial Museums (Steffi de Jong, 2018), in which the main functions of video testimony are researched with regard to their implementation in memorial museums, also examines the role of the video as a medium, considered as a museum object that is part of a collection that exhibits and transmits a message to the public. The recension also explores the importance of the testimony, whose job is to create an emotional atmosphere in the rooms, to finally go deeper into the content of the testimonies —and their museographicand curatorial strategies— that trigger different narratives related to pain and trauma.
