Abstract

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the different symbolic manifestations linked to death have been significantly disrupted: for example, funerals and burials of people who died for the virus or for other reasons have been suspended or modified in a dramatic way. In this context, the colleagues included in this memorial have not been able to receive a farewell in accordance with tradition and their own cultural practices, and with the consequent emotional burden that comes with the impossibility of performing the desired ritual for them. Motivated by these thoughts, we want to pay a small tribute in their honor with these brief lines that, of course, are insufficient to thank all their work and contributions to our institution, to the anthropological disciplines and to the population of our country and the world.
