Abstract
In Mexico, death is an event accompanied by diverse rituals and beliefs, which are part of the worldview. They make it possible to spread a community’s knowledge and their characteristics vary depending on geographic location. In Santa Cruz Analco, in the state of Puebla, near the slope of Mt. Iztaccíhuatl, the people conduct various rituals surrounding death in which they employ objects such as a pitcher of water and a trompillo stalk, among others. The aim of these rituals is to ensure the welfare of the deceased, the success of their passage to “the other world,” and for the living it represents a physical and symbolic contact with this intangible world, therefore, it is necessary conduct these rituals properly to prevent any sort of harm from befalling the living.Downloads
