El Fondo Real de Cholula: digitalización y conservación del patrimonio histórico

Abstract

The Fondo Real de Cholula is a collection of documents that is under the protection of Archivo Judicial del H. Tribunal Superior de Justicia of the State of Puebla, this collection contains documents that date from the 16th century until the end of the 19th century, is composed of 288 boxes, of which only thirty-five, from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, have been digitized and inventoried. The work of digitizing these documents has been done over the last
nine months as part of the Proyecto de Digitalización de la Colección del Fondo Real de Cholula. The objective of this article is to show and describe the aforementioned process whose final objective is the preservation of the documentary collection of the Fondo Real de Cholula. Likewise, in its different phases it is sought: to demonstrate the achievements
and the achievements obtained, as well as its limitations, the need and importance of continuing with the process, taking into account the fact that the project ends in May of this year. This documentary collection has a high historical and patrimonial value due to the enormous amount of protected information and, therefore, it has great potential as a
historical source.
