Abstract

Saprobio fungi mainly those of microscopic characteristics are dangerous agents causing great losses in various sectors, including cultural, specifically those documents deposited in archives and libraries, this kind of microorganisms causes the degradation mainly to their cellulose and lignin, through hydrolytic enzymes produced and secreted extracellularly on the surface of documents. In Mexico, studies to learn about the species of micromycetes that cause biodeterioration in documents have been very few, especially when we know that there are species with xerophilic ability, because they can to grow in minimal conditions of relative humidity, in response to low water activity. Therefore, isolation was carried out by inoculum in culture plates of different compositions such as potato agar, czapek and glucose malt, for the determination of the micromycetes species of three enviromental indoor of documentary deposits stored in archives from INAH. Twenty-nine species were determined of micromycetes indoor of archives, one very important was Aspergillus niger due to has been recognized with growth potential for low water activity, usually between 0.8 and 0.9, although conditioned by temperature, an unknown problem for two of the three documentary collections of this study.
