Resumen
Los necropaisajes reflejan la agencia de los difuntos dentro del espacio de su comunidad. Los muertos ancestrales contribuyen a la creación de lugares sagrados a través del espacio y el tiempo, reforzando las conexiones lineales y étnicas. Los necropaisajes precoloniales del desierto sonorense evolucionaron considerablemente en el transcurso del periodo Agricultura Temprana (2100 a. C.-50 d. C.) de manera concomitante con el creciente tamaño de las comunidades y las interacciones sociales más complejas. El patrón ancestral de entierros individuales dispersos se expandió para incluir entierros múltiples, secundarios, agrupados, así como cremaciones y, finalmente, cementerios formales que constituyen la base de los patrones mortuorios posteriores de Trincheras y Hohokam. Este artículo considera el desarrollo de los necropaisajes durante el referido periodo y cómo es que reflejan interacciones sociales cada vez más complejas durante ese prolongado transcurso de adaptación a los nuevos enfoques tecnológicos de la vida en el desierto sonorense.
