Abstract

Since 2012, in Mexico City the International Course on Paper Conservation. An encounter with the East, has been held. The course is sponsored by the National Coordination for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, INAH. Its objective is to bring some of the tools, materials and techniques of restoration of paper as has been done in Japan for centuries. The course combines, on the one hand, the technical aspects of the knowledge and use of these techniques explained by the Japanese Masters, together with the adaptations achieved by the Latin American teachers, with the aim of making them of maximum utility and accessibility to the invited participants in each edition. The course seeks to help improve the technical level of professionals in the restoration of paper, but also to provide intangible values that allow them a new perspective when facing their work
