Abstract

The bioarchaeological analysis of two human burials allows us to reconsider the coastal plain of Sonora and its surrounding, the foothills of the Sierra Madre Occidental, as an area with wellidentifiable cultural characteristics and consistent regional influences, which consolidated, in stages, prior to the beginning of the ceramic period. Also, this territory constitutes a very important corridor of interaction for the hokanos and the cahita populations, in the northern regions of the Mexican state of Sinaloa.
