Abstract
This paper aims to present some attitudes towards death and funerary practices of indigenous nations that inhabited the province of Sonora during eighteenth century, which were observed and described by Jesuit missionaries and military explorers as well, who settled in their territories in order to evangelize them and to teach them to live under the forms of coexistence that the Spanish State was trying to institute.
