Abstract

In 2011, the Escuela de Antropología e Historia del Norte de México (School of Anthropology and History of Northern Mexico) was created in the city of Chihuahua as part of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (National Institute of Anthropology and History). Currently, four undergraduate and two graduate programs are taught there, including an undergraduate and a master’s degree in physical anthropology. A few years after its creation, the school is undergoing a process of consolidation, its bet is for a free education with a high social commitment. The goal in the training of physical anthropologists in northern México is for them to value interdisciplinary work and to contribute to society by solving some of the many problems that are experienced in Mexico´s vast territory.
