No 6 (2019): Multiple perspectives on the pandemic I. One virus, many epidemics: the resurgence of cultural diversity
Issue Description
This edition of Rutas de Campo is located at the time of the beginning of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, declared in Mexico in March 2020. In this first edition of a series of two issues dedicated to the COVID-19 pandemic, the nine articles that are compiled show the importance of recovering sensitive approaches to sociocultural diversity: therein lies the contribution of the approaches around public image of science and medical anthropology, discourse analysis and the experience of confinement, to understand what have been the reactions of different populations to the pandemic, how are generalized conceptions configured regarding the professional health sector, how the health emergency impacted the emotional and psychological spheres and, finally, how, from the local spheres, defense mechanisms are established through social networks of solidarity. The heterogeneity of themes, actors and populations, which are compiled in this series of two issues (Rutas de Campo No. 6 & Rutas de Campo No. 8 "Ethnographic views of cultural diversity on COVID-19"), show the social and cultural “multiplicity of perspectives” on the pandemic.
